Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: When does the app unlock?
A: The app unlocks every day between 3:50 AM – 4:45 AM in your local timezone. Outside this window, the app is locked.

Q: What if I miss the window?
A: You’ll need to wait until the next day. The discipline is the point. Your streak will reset if you miss a day.

Q: Do I need to create an account?
A: No. 4AM Club requires no account, no email, no password. Just download and start using it.

Q: What is Bypass Mode?
A: Bypass Mode is for demo and testing purposes only. Sessions logged via bypass are marked as [DEMO] and do NOT count toward your streak. It’s clearly labeled on the locked screen.


Using the App

Q: How do I log a session?
A:

  1. Open the app between 3:50-4:45 AM
  2. Tap the “I’M UP” button
  3. Optionally select your work type (Building, Writing, Coding, etc.)
  4. Your session is logged and stickers are generated instantly

Q: How do I share my stickers?
A:

  1. After logging a session, browse the sticker gallery
  2. Tap any sticker to view it full-screen
  3. Tap the share icon
  4. Use the iOS Share Sheet to share to Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Messages, or save to Photos

Q: Can I customize my stickers?
A: Each session auto-generates 8-12 unique designs in different styles. You can’t edit them, but you get variety to choose from. All stickers include your date, time, streak, and optional location.

Q: What work types can I select?
A: Building, Writing, Coding, Planning, Creating, Strategy, Studying. You can also skip this and leave it blank.


Streaks & History

Q: How do streaks work?
A: Your streak increases by 1 for each consecutive day you check in during the 4AM window. Miss a day and your streak resets to 0.

Q: Can I view my past sessions?
A: Yes. Go to the History tab to see all your past sessions in calendar view.

Q: What happens if I delete the app?
A: All your data is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, all session history and stickers are permanently deleted. Export your data first if you want to keep it.


Permissions & Privacy

Q: Why does the app request location access?
A: Location access is optional. If enabled, we use city-level location (e.g., “San Francisco, CA”) to display on your stickers. We never collect precise GPS coordinates or track your movements. You can deny this permission and the app works fine.

Q: Does the app track me?
A: No. We don’t track you across other apps or websites. We don’t sell your data. All your information stays on your device.

Q: Do you share my data?
A: No. We don’t send your data to servers, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising.

Q: Do I need an internet connection?
A: The app works offline after initial download. Internet is only needed if you choose to share stickers to social media.


Troubleshooting

Q: The app won’t unlock even though it’s 4AM
A: Check these:

  1. Verify your device time is correct (Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically)
  2. Confirm your timezone is correct
  3. The window is 3:50-4:45 AM, not exactly 4:00 AM
  4. Force close and restart the app
  5. If still not working, email bszklaruk@gmail.com with your timezone and device model

Q: My streak didn’t increase after checking in
A: Did you use Bypass Mode? Bypassed sessions don’t count toward streaks. Only sessions logged during the actual 3:50-4:45 AM window count.

Q: Stickers won’t save to my Photos
A: Grant Photos access: Settings > Privacy > Photos > 4AM Club > Select “Add Photos Only” or “All Photos”

Q: The app crashes when I try to share
A:

  1. Update to the latest iOS version
  2. Update 4AM Club to the latest version
  3. Restart your device
  4. If still crashing, email bszklaruk@gmail.com with your device model and iOS version

Q: My stickers look blurry when shared
A: Stickers are generated at high resolution (1080x1920px). Some apps compress images. Try saving to Photos first, then sharing from there.


Features & Feedback

Q: Can you add [feature]?
A: We’re constantly improving 4AM Club. Email your feature requests to bszklaruk@gmail.com. We read every suggestion.

Q: Will there be an Android version?
A: Not currently, but it’s on our roadmap. Email bszklaruk@gmail.com to join the Android waitlist.

Q: Is there a premium version?
A: Currently, all features are free. We may add optional premium features in the future (more sticker templates, cloud sync, etc.) but the core experience will always be free.

Q: Can I change the unlock window to a different time?
A: No. The 4AM time is intentional and core to the concept. The app is specifically for the 4AM movement.


Account & Data

Q: How do I delete my account?
A: There is no account to delete. All data is stored locally on your device. To remove all data:

  1. Go to Settings > Reset Account, or
  2. Delete the app from your device

Q: Can I transfer my data to a new phone?
A:

  • Via iCloud Backup: If you have iCloud backup enabled, your data may transfer automatically when setting up a new device
  • Manual Export: Export your data (Settings > Export Data), transfer the files to your new device, then contact support for help importing

Q: I accidentally deleted my data. Can I recover it?
A: If you have an iCloud backup from before the deletion, you may be able to restore it. Otherwise, deleted data cannot be recovered. We recommend regularly exporting your data as a backup.


Technical Requirements

Compatibility:

  • iOS 16.0 or later
  • iPhone only (iPad support coming soon)
  • Works on all iPhone models from iPhone XR and newer

Storage:

  • App size: ~25 MB
  • Data storage grows with session history and stickers (typically 50-200 MB)

Permissions:

  • Required: Notifications (for 4AM reminders)
  • Optional: Location Services (city-level only), Photos (to save stickers)
